Above and Beyond: The Prairie Maker Who Saved the Day

Some makers have a way of capturing the Prairies in every detail, and Derevo Designs from Saskatoon is one of them. Sean creates handcrafted crib boards, laser engraved artwork, and custom pieces that reflect the landscapes and stories of Saskatchewan. A recent experience reminded me why supporting local artisans matters so much. We were preparing a retirement gift for a customer when a supplier fell through at the last minute. With very little time to find a solution, I reached out to Sean and asked if there was any chance he could help. Within minutes, he called and said he was ready to jump in. His willingness to help in a stressful moment was a perfect example of true Prairie spirit.

Even though he was in the middle of Christmas pop up markets across the Prairies and travelling nonstop, he still made time to create a custom laser engraved piece in Saskatoon. He completed it in one night with incredible attention to detail. He then drove it to Regina and hand delivered it. All of this happened within a week during the busiest season of the year. His dedication and kindness completely changed a stressful situation into something meaningful.
