When I met Aaron Brousseau of Aiden Amina at a craft sale this past holiday season, I instantly knew he was my type of person. You could see he is a creative soul with personality coming out of his pores! So of course, I want to talk with him. Toward the end of the craft show, I mustered up the courage to go to Aaron’s table and say hi. But I got distracted. Rather than saying- hi I am Kathy …. I just kept repeating myself telling him how much I loved his mugs.
So what makes this mug so special? I have sold my share of clay mugs, and I am starting to recognize the differences between them. I found a few key things to consider and pay attention to when selecting a clay mug.
Everyone should have a mug that checks off all these things- treat yourself!
I asked what was the motivation to start Aiden Amina? Aaron explains it started with a simple trip to a plant store, where he could not find the right planter anywhere. So while taking a clay course at Silt Studio here in Regina, he created the perfect planter, but over time that passion for creating clay planters shifted to making spectacular mugs.
What I learned about this Scorpio is that he is fearless- moving from Vancouver to Regina six years ago. In these short six years, he has made a name for himself! I had no idea but Aiden Amina is his side hustle. He is super successful with his full-time gig at Salon Society–just this year he was voted as The Prairie Dog Magazines’ best hairstylist in Regina. Aaron says, “I fell in love with hair because it’s wearable art. Every day is different and fresh and new and I get to make people feel wonderful about themselves.” He showcases his trade on Instagram @magicisthenewblonde.
I can see the parallels between hair and pottery- and get why these two passions work so well together for Aaron. Creating pottery sounds like hair processes- glazes, additives, and techniques. With these skills in his pocket, Aiden Amina has checked off all my criteria for THE PERFECT MUG.
Aaron says, “I always say pottery is meant to be loved, there’s nothing better than when you pick up a handcrafted mug and it hugs you back!”
We are beyond excited to introduce Aiden Amina mugs to our list of available products for our custom and corporate gift boxes. The mugs are available right now at QCGifts.ca.
