A few weeks ago I blogged about a fun little project we are doing to stand out in the local gifting scene in my hometown of Regina, Saskatchewan. This was inspired by the book ‘Big Little Legends’ by Gair Maxwell, a Canadian author who works with businesses to make irresistible brands. The project we are doing is developing a jingle with Regina’s local arts community.
To begin the process, we needed lyrics and music to create a catchy jingle. I was fortunate to have the support of Gord Moker, who has been my mentor throughout the past year. With his guidance, I met Colin Neufeld, who became an essential player in bringing this "Purple Cow" to life. After a casual coffee meeting one Saturday afternoon, the seeds for the jingle were planted.
Colin, who serves as the Youth in Harmony Director of the Living Skies Chorus created the cappella jingle for us. Here is the first play of the tune, with no lyrics so you can appreciate the process. The jingle’s composition and lyrics were then shared with The 4Tunes. The 4TUNES are also members of the Living Skies Chorus, alongside Colin.
Last week, I had the pleasure of checking out the first rehearsal of the jingle with The 4Tunes singing group. I was blown away- these talented performers sang the jingle for the very first time right there in front of me. Lucky for me I was able to capture this on video here:
Coincidentally I am excited to share the news that I have a radio talk show coming to CJTR -Regina’s Community Radio Station. Starting April 19 each Wednesday from 12:30 to 1 pm you will find yours truly broadcasted across the Queen City on 91.3 FM as I chat with others in our community.
So now I am getting to the best part, guess who has agreed to come on to my very first show? The 4Tunes will join me live to perform this jingle as well as a few other numbers. In addition to hearing them sing, we will sit down and talk about the history of barbershop, as well as information about the Living Skies Chorus. Plus, I'll reveal the results of a poll on what to name the show. Make your voice heard by voting for your favorite name here:
Looking forward to sharing more as I lean into the word ‘yes’ and take life by the horns.
*Hear Living Skies Chorus perform on May 5th at Dark Hall as they Sing into Spring -tickets can be found here.

Saskatchewan’s winter warmth isn’t just about temperature; it’s about community, preparation, and a little bit of prairie magic. From heated hallways to home hibernation, from starting seedlings to layering up for the outdoors, we’ve found ways to make winter work for us. So next time someone asks if Saskatchewan winters are too cold, we can smile, knowing we’ve discovered a unique warmth that goes beyond the thermostat.
