Why We’re Sitting Out Agribition This Year (We’ll Miss You!)
Share
After having a booth at the Canadian Western Agribition for the past four years, this will be our first time sitting it out. It feels a little strange to say that out loud because Agribition has become such a big part of our year. We love the people it brings into Regina, the excitement it creates, and the way visitors from all over Canada stop by our booth to pick up Prairie-inspired souvenirs to take back home or gift to someone special.
Some of my favourite moments have been hearing where our products travel. Customers would tell us, “This tea towel is going to Australia,” or, “This magnet is headed to Ontario with my cousin,” or, “I’m shipping this Prairie Girl necklace to my daughter in Vancouver.” Those little stories—watching our souvenirs travel far beyond Saskatchewan—mean the world to us. Every time someone shared where a gift was going, it made the long days absolutely worth it.
But after a lot of thinking (and a little laughing at our own exhaustion), we realized we simply don’t have the energy for Agribition this year. The event is wonderful, but it takes a full team effort. Angus takes the week off work, family steps in to watch the kids, and we basically turn our entire house into a product-packing station. Preparing, loading, unloading, setting up, standing all day, restocking, taking down the booth, doing late-night orders—it’s a marathon. A very cheerful, donut-filled marathon, but a marathon all the same.
It’s also an expensive week between booth fees, inventory, packaging, travel, and the cost of producing enough Prairie souvenirs to fill the space. Add in the physical strain and the fact that it lands right in the middle of our busiest season, and we finally admitted to ourselves that taking a break this year is the healthiest choice for our family and for QCGifts.ca.
We will genuinely miss seeing everyone—especially the visitors who stop by year after year and the families who make our booth a tradition. We’ll miss hearing your travel stories, where your gifts are going, and which Prairie keepsake you’re choosing for someone you love. Connecting with people from across Canada is one of the best parts of selling Saskatchewan souvenirs, and stepping back this year wasn’t an easy decision.
Even though we won’t have a booth at Agribition 2025, we’re still here creating Prairie-inspired gifts, souvenirs, and keepsakes that celebrate the Prairies. You can find us online at QCGifts.ca, through our vending machines around Regina, and in partner shops across Saskatchewan. Whether you’re local or visiting, there are still plenty of ways to bring a little piece of the Prairies home with you.
We’re so grateful for the support you’ve shown us these past four years. We’ll be cheering Agribition on from the sidelines, catching our breath, and maybe even enjoying a week where we don’t need a forklift’s worth of coffee. And who knows—after a little rest, we might just find ourselves back again.
